5+hour layover. If there is a purgatory, airport layovers are it. Bad seating, expensive food, surly clerks, poorly organized. COPS (Panamanian TSA) made us switch our seating location 3-4 times because they check incoming flights at each gate. So they were constantly roping and unroping the each of the gates. Sometimes we were inside the "secure" area, sometimes outside. So security was never truly secure.
A Domino's personal Pizza and a Chester's 2-piece chicken with potato wedges cost $25. I had grabbed one Coke, and Josh shoved another in my hands while I wasn't paying attention (read "overwhelmed"). I was being cheap and upset at first, but some what later realized they were included with the meal. So, good job Josh. Apparently when traveling diets and good eating habits go out the window. We were more concerned with what was safe than what was healthy.
Make sure to check your gate and flight. After landing, we walked from one end of the airport to the other to our departure gate. We were waiting for four hours at Puerta 5 and never saw any activity at the check-in desk. I just happened to wander past the flight board after throwing some garbage away, and while watching saw Guatemala posted at Puerta 12. Raquel went to check it out, and sure enough the flight had been switched. After racing all the way back across the airport, we got on board with minutes to spare. So long Panama.
I so dislike layovers, at this point in my life, direct flights whenever possible...glad you were so well cared for, willie did good. Looking forward to the exciting days ahead for you.
